Was very minimalist and modern. I liked the lighting with the Edison bulbs and the booth we were seated in was comfortable. The tin walls added a nice element.
Danielle was nothing but friendly and helpful. She definitely added enjoyment to the meal.
Sangria was pretty basic. Our server recommended a winter version of what was on the menu which I appreciated as I was more in the mood for a red vs. white. Good, but nothing to write home about.
Bread was so soft, warm and overall delicious. It took a lot of restraint on my part to not eat the whole basket! And they weren’t stingy on the butter either, which was nice.
My main was good, but not out of this world. The sweet potato gnocchi itself had a good texture (not lumpy, not to heavy), but the sauce was lacking a bit of flavor. They used parsley as the fresh herb, which I felt didn’t go as nicely with the ingredients. A more woodsy herb would have elevated the flavours, such as thyme, in a much better way. The chestnuts added some sweetness, which complimented the sweet potato in the gnocchi. The portion size was a little small for the price as well.
The tastings plate was recommended for 2, but it could easily feed 4. They were all good and well portioned. I loved the presentation of the mini banoffee, but found it was challenging to get all the layers from the small mason jar at once so it ended up being my least favourite of the desserts. I would say this is worth getting as the price is decent and you get to try a lot of different things!
Yes. I found that there was enough variety of options on the menu to satisfy any typical vegetarian. They even have a very small “Meat-ish” menu for those looking for specific vegetarian (maybe even vegan?) fair.
We were lucky enough to have a gift card, which allowed us to feel a bit more free with spending. The prices are mid/high so definitely not a restaurant I would venture to on a regular basis, but perhaps a special occasion. I felt my main was overpriced, but my mom and dad seemed to get good bang for their buck with the daily special.
Absolutely! Between the great service and good food I really enjoyed my dinner there.
