There is nothing better than a good pizza fresh from the oven and Lit Espresso Bar does does not disappoint! Incredibly fresh ingredients left my husband and I debating about ordering a second pie.
After a friend recommended Lit Espresso Bar on Bloor West to me, I decided to check it out. Casual in nature, their rustic modern decor was a nice touch and tastefully suited to the small, narrow space. Limited on seating, I can see this place getting packed on a Friday night. It is very important to note that only pizza, wine & beer is served at their Bloor St. location. Great for a date, a meal with friends or even families.
Service was friendly and offered with a smile. We weren’t exactly sure how their system worked (seat ourselves, go up for the bill, etc.), but the staff helped us navigate. It was nice not to feel rushed out, although we did wait quite some time for our bill. No complaints about the service.
As it was a bit past lunch by the time when we arrived at the restaurant, my husband and I were starving so we decided to order the bread sticks to tide us over. Ok, a bit strange for us to order bread sticks when our main was undoubtedly going to be a pizza (my husband said “you realize we ordered crust with our pizza”), but I have to say we were thrilled we did! Despite having similar ingredients, the sticks tasted much different than the pizza thanks to their seasonings and we happily gobbled them up. The tomato dipping sauce was delicious and flavourful and a perfect accompaniment. Would definitely recommend ordering these 🙂
We decided to split a Margherita pizza, playing it safe since we were first timers and, wow, was this a good pizza! To give you some background, I had dragged my husband to the west end of the city to visit the High Park Zoo (a short distance from the restaurant) and we decided to stop into Lit Espresso Bar first. His exact words were “It was 100% worth us coming all this way just for the pizza!” and I couldn’t agree more. The dough was phenomenal and the sauce was fresh. Probably one of our most favourite pizza’s in the city for Neapolitan style.
If you are like me and enjoy spice, definitely ask for their house-made spicy oil. I really enjoyed theirs as it provided just the right amount of heat (I often find house-made oils either try to overdo it with the spice or are underwhelming). I also liked that it was served in a dropper which made if far easier to distribute over my pizza than a spoon.
The menu isn’t big, but I felt I had lots of vegetarian options to choose from and would definitely be happy to come back again for some more delicious pizza.
This was probably the best surprise of all. We had come out on Family Day (which is on a Monday in Ontario Canada) and discovered that Margherita pizzas were only $8. Great deal, even though it would have only been $13 if it was regular price, which is still really good considering the quality of food.
