We tallied up the ratings we gave the 26 restaurants we reviewed in 2017 and determined our 5 absolute favourites. For all restaurants, we rated overall experience, food, service, atmosphere and price/value. Interestingly, ethnic food – Mexican, Middle Eastern, Indian and Italian – topped our list.
In descending order, here are our Top 5 Favourite Restaurants of 2017.
There is no denying that Bombay Palace, located in Toronto, Ontario, has incredible, authentic Indian cuisine, but it was the fantastic service that pushed this restaurant into one of the top 5 spots for us this year. If you enjoy great food and service – and Indian food – this is definitely a restaurant you should check out in 2018.
We were so glad we followed the recommendation of a business account while travelling to the Canadian east coast as it lead us to the Saint John, New Brunswick gem, Italian by Night! This restaurant was a triple bonus with great food, service and atmosphere. There is no doubt that we will be heading back to this place should we find ourselves in Saint John again.
We are total suckers for pizza and Toronto‘s Descendant Detroit Style Pizza served up so much more than just a regular pie. A unique set of toppings featured on an incredible crust created lots of bold flavours that had us grabbing a second slice. And the decor matched the creative flare of the pizzas with graffiti-style art adorning the walls. Casual dining that rocks!
#2 Souk Tabule
Fast, fresh and casual Middle Eastern cuisine was what Toronto’s Canary District Souk Tabule restaurant was all about. Bold flavours and gorgeous colourful ingredients made the plates POP into hat looked like works of art. We particularly enjoyed the amazing falafels which we feel were the best we ever had!
#1 La Taqueria
You know when you eat something and you are still dreaming of it months later…ya…it’s a great find. That what La Taqueria‘s burrito is for us. Not the fanciest restaurant we have ever been to and, no, the dishes weren’t plated to perfection, but the food spoke for itself and, hands down, won over our taste buds, putting it in the #1 spot of restaurants we reviewed this year. If you ever venture to San Francisco, be sure to visiting this landmark establishment for casual Mexican food. You won’t be sorry you did.
Well that is a wrap for restaurant reviews of 2017. We can’t wait to see how restaurants will fare in 2018! In the meantime, check out our other restaurants reviews.
