This is Jenna's note to me (mom/partner/other kook) when she came up with the idea of starting a food blog together. Such a wonderful gift.
Nothing would bring me more joy than to start a fun foodie project that both you and I can work on together as a mother/daughter team! As you begin on a new stage of your life with retirement and I continue on my new role as a wife, I thought what better way to mark these new chapters than together with this blog.
Throughout our lives, food has played an integral role in our relationship. From your challenges adapting to a very picky vegetarian eater (thank God I have moved on from the picky part!), to concerns over nutrition, to me having to call you from my apartments as I learned to fend for myself in the kitchen, to our new stage of mutual love and appreciation for food on all sorts of levels!
What I envision for our joint blog is a coming together of two very unique perspectives and how it relates to our lives and food.
The Mother perspective (aka you), newly retired with her husband, living in the suburbs, experiencing a change in taste and what is agreeable, years of experience in the kitchen, and a lover of entertaining friends and family!
The Daughter perspective (aka me), newly married, living in downtown Toronto, vegetarian but still hungry to try new tastes and experiences, also a lover of entertaining family and friends, minimal experience in the kitchen. I hope that with two drastically different perspectives, we can encompass a broad range of interested readers!
I would like for us to blog about our individual experiences and shared ones as well, ranging from topics on restaurants, recipes, cookbooks, kitchen gadgets, home cooked meals, events and even travel, all with a focus on the food and what it has meant to us.
I can only hope that you are as excited about this gift/project for the two of us as I am, and I look forward to many food related adventures with you!
Happy Holidays (Dec 2015),
Love, Your Daughter Jenna
